Methodology
Every calculator on Toolertools follows the same standards before it's published.
Formulas and sources
Calculation logic is based on standard engineering formulas and industry-average constants (like material densities and panel sizes). Each tool lists its methodology, its assumptions, and its sources directly on the page — you never have to guess how a number was produced.
Testing
Every formula is implemented as an isolated, deterministic function with automated unit tests, including known-answer checks, edge cases (zero and negative inputs), and unit conversion round-trips. A calculator doesn't ship until its tests pass.
Transparency about limits
Real-world materials vary. Gravel density changes with moisture and stone size; lumber dimensions vary by supplier. Our results are planning estimates with a configurable waste allowance — confirm final quantities with your supplier before ordering.
Publication standards
We only publish a tool when its logic is tested, its supporting content is genuinely useful, and its result would hold up to a knowledgeable professional's review. We don't publish near-duplicate calculators to chase search keywords.
Corrections
Found an error? We want to know. Each tool shows its last-updated date, and corrections ship as soon as they're verified.
